Added sugar, told apart

Most of your sugar isn't the fruit.

Photograph a meal and Sugar Track splits the number in two: what the food came with, and what was put in. Only one of those has a daily limit.

THE SPLIT

One number can't tell you very much.

A bowl of berries and a glazed pastry can land on the same total. The World Health Organization sets a limit on added sugar, not on the sugar already in whole food. Sugar Track keeps the two apart on every meal, every day, and every trend line.

Natural is what the fruit, milk or vegetable brought with it. It counts toward the day's total, not the limit.
Added is the syrup in the dressing and the sugar in the sauce. That is the number worth watching.

Same total sugar. One spends 1g of the 25g daily added-sugar limit; the other spends 12g — close to half of it.

Three taps, start to answer.

1
Photograph the meal

Or describe it in a few words when a photo isn't practical. The analysis comes back in seconds.

2
Read the two numbers

Every ingredient is listed with its own share, so you can see which one carried the added sugar.

3
Name the brand, if you know it

Scan a barcode or pick the product and the estimate is replaced by the figure printed on the label.

WHERE THE NUMBERS COME FROM

Estimates are labelled as estimates.

When a value comes from a packaged label it is marked as one. When it is inferred from a photograph it says so, and you can correct it. The app never presents a guess as a fact.
